Hi,
I have a Microsoft Surface 4 Pro, which I really enjoy using. It is not always the fastest but the portability and ease of use is fantastic. But recently I had a pop-up program PCMAX show up on my Surface. It suggested it was an elite Microsoft Partner. I used the tool and it seemed to identify a number of issues with my Surface performance including memory, disk space usage (even though it’s solid state), and unwanted programs. After using for a period of time it asked that I sign up for a subscription. I thought I would try it for a year for $49.95. Then the catch: I had to call the subscription line to start the service. I gave them access to my PC and they said there very serious issues and then I received a hard pitch to sign up for a service for either $100 or $175 annually. The sales person was from a foreign country and was rude and insulting. The conversation went south quickly, and I was threatened that I would have serious issues with my PC if I didn’t sign up for the service. I shared that I just paid $49.95 for the software and the comment was made that it was not enough and I was doomed. I stated I did not appreciate the conversation and I do NOT want the additional service. Then after further comments, I stated that I now did not want the service at all including the software…. The individual refused to credit my account. I stated I would just cancel the charge with my CC service. I was told I can’t. So my questions are:
1. Are you familiar with PCMAX?
2. Is it worthwhile?
3. Should I remove the software from my PC and have my PC cleaned ?
4. How can I warn others of this bait-and-switch technique?
Please help.
Thanks!
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
